Built to the builder's schedule, not the other way around
A house going up in Southeast Wisconsin runs on a sequence that plumbing does not control. The framers finish a section, the plumber has a window before the inspector and the insulator show up behind him, and the drywall crew is already booked for the week after that. Karlsen Plumbing has worked that sequence since 1978, and now averages around 200 new homes a year for the builders and general contractors who count on the trade showing up on the day it's scheduled.
That volume only works because of the relationships behind it. We have a strong relationship with numerous builders and general contractors in the area. That means the same crews are back on the same subdivisions job after job, and a schedule change gets a phone call instead of a surprise. We take on custom homes as well as model and package homes, so the pace of a production builder's calendar and the one-off timeline of a custom build both get the same attention.

What a rough-in actually is, and why the inspector runs the clock
Rough-in is the plumbing that goes in before the walls close up: drain, waste and vent piping run through the joists and studs, water supply lines stubbed to every fixture location, and gas piping run to the furnace and water heater. None of it is visible once the house is finished, which is exactly why it has to be right the first time. A missed vent or an undersized drain line is a wall that has to come back open.
The local building inspector sets the actual pace of the job. Rough-in plumbing gets inspected before insulation and drywall go in, because that's the last point anyone can see the pipe. Chapter 03
The brands specified, and the trim-out the homeowner finally sees
After the rough-in passes inspection and the walls close, the job comes back for trim-out: the fixtures themselves, set and connected. Karlsen installs Kohler, Moen, Sterling, Delta and Grohe fixtures, Bradford White and Rinnai tankless water heaters, InSinkErator disposals, and Uponor PEX, Watts, Zurn, Sioux Chief, Flow Guard Gold, Woodford and Jim Murray Pumps components on the supply and drain side. Trim-out is the part of the job a new homeowner in Racine or anywhere else in Southeast Wisconsin actually sees and touches, so it gets the same care as the rough-in nobody will ever look at again. Everything upstream of it, every joint and vent run behind the drywall, was set up to make that last visit straightforward.
